 The Subaru 2.5-liter turbo Boxer engine won the top engine award in the 2.0-to-2.5-liter class at the Engine Expo in Stuttgart, Germany, in May. Found in all U.S. Subaru model lines except the B9 Tribeca, it was selected for the award by a panel of 61 journalists from 29 countries. The panel judged engines on vehicle performance, drivability, ease of handling, fuel economy and refinement. The Subaru Boxer’s award is one of 11 awarded during the Engine Expo – eight based on displacement and three in other categories. It’s the first horizontally opposed engine to win this prestigious award. |
